I almost never go down the cosmetics aisle at the grocery store but I was using it as a shortcut to the registers and found this palette by Black Radiance. At first I thought it was Wet n Wild because the palette looked very similar to their 8 pan palettes. It was a little more than the Wet n Wild palettes at $6.99 and the quality is very similar.
I bought one of the new Wet n Wild magnetic nail polishes. I find the magnetic polishes very frustrating because the ones I've tried (this and one other cheap drugstore brand) just have not worked. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, though I am following directions, or maybe it's because they are cheap, but I can't get them to work well.
I finally broke down and bought something from Butter London. It kind of hurts to spend that much on nail polish, but I look every time I'm in Ulta. I chose this set because it was $36, so the polishes were a little cheaper than normal ($14 each). I'm actually glad I did. While I was swatching these, I was also doing drugstore polishes and I could really tell the difference between these and drugstore ones. I'm in love with the silver polish.
I'm not even sure where I heard about this company, but I first looked into Rainbow Honey because they were doing a nail polish collection based on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which I love. The Equestria collection has 8 polishes that come in 15ml and 7ml options. I chose to get the 7ml ones, partly because I have never made it through a full-sized nail polish and partly because they were cheaper. I got all 8 for $35. The 15ml set is $70. Shipping was a little slow. It took about 2 weeks to get them.
I got this L.A. Colors palette at Rite Aid. There was another one as well, but most of the colors looked the same so I just picked one. I think they were $3.99, which isn't bad for 24 eye shadows and the colors are pretty decent.
I saw the Sinful Colors Study in Style display in Walgreens while I was looking for other things. From what I've read, Leap Flog is the only new color in this display. At this point I don't have a complete list of the Sinful Colors polishes I have and didn't want to buy one I already have like I did with the Glitter Glam stuff, so I only got Leap Flog. While I was looking, though, I did see one that I think is a good dupe for an OPI one.
I found the new Wet n Wild Fergie nail polishes at Walgreens. There are some really pretty colors, especially the more unusual glitters. A few were more basic solids. I hope these are around for a while so I can get more. They are $3.49, which is not bad but not the cheapest Wet n Wild nail polishes, and there are quite a few of these. I got the ones I liked the most on this trip, but would like to get more if they are still there.
I've skipped a lot of these Hello Kitty palettes because I bought the ones that were released when this line launched and they were awful. I was in Sephora, though, and was drawn in by the pink rubbery-feeling palette. I wasn't going to buy it just because of that so I swatched all the colors in the store before deciding that it was much better quality than these palettes used to be.
I bought the Blackheart Beauty Stealth eyeshadow primer a few weeks ago. It's only $5 and that's a really good deal, especially if it works, so I tested it out to see how well it did compared to Too Faced Shadow Insurance. On one eye, I used the Too Faced Shadow Insurance and on the other I used the Blackheart Beauty Stealth primer.
The Fairytale quad was not the worst, but not the best. The purple is not very pigmented, which is not unusual for a lot of purples. The other three are good, but the middle two are light colors so they don't show up well on me.
I finally managed to find YDK, which was always sold out when I went to Ulta. I also figured out that it's really easy to depot these shadows for the Build Your Own Palette... I was completely wrong and they can just pop out. When I was depotting shadows, I used a knife to pull out the first one and realized that the bottom of the pot isn't there.
I got the lip glosses from the Jesse's Girl Rock Star collection recently. They are really sheer... I was hoping they'd have a little more color. They also have artificial fruit smells that correspond with the colors- purple smells like grape, orange smells like orange and pink smells like strawberry- so if you hate them then these probably would be something to skip.
