Torment by Lauren Kate

I honestly don't believe that Lauren Kate has a real plan for this series. There is practically no information given to the reader about what is happening. We are left as much in the dark as Luce about everything. I felt just as frustrated as Luce at the lack of information being supplied. Because it was written in 3rd person, we could have been given some information that Luce wasn't. Instead, we know only what Luce knows. I'm scared for the next book because I feel like it's going to be as vague as the last two.

Fairy Tales in Electri-City by Francesca Lia Block

I want to say that like this book content. FLB has been a favorite author of mine for quite a while. While I've never liked the poetry books as much as the novels, they still have her same style. And I enjoyed the poems for someone who is not really that into poetry.

But the enjoyment I have for it is clouded by the fact that it is so tiny. It's 78 pages and smaller than an average Mass Market paperback.

A Touch Mortal Review

A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford

I was really unsure about what rating I would give this book and, even now, I'm not sure if I went too high. In the end I gave it a 3 because A Touch Mortal had its fair share of problems but I wanted to finish reading it.

The story opens with Eden on the beach, contemplating suicide, when she meets Az and Gabe. In between the second and third chapter, completely off-screen, Az and Eden fall in love... an all encompassing love that took all of a week to develop. But Gabe, who also became Eden's best friend in a week, has found out that Eden is destined to kill herself and come back as a Sider (I assumed that Sider was short for Suicider). That's not the only problem, though.

Eyeliner Test Drive: Avon SuperSHOCK

I've heard several people on youtube say that Avon SuperSHOCK gel eyeliner pencil is the best. I had to order mine on ebay because the US Avon doesn't sell it anymore so it looks like they only have a khaki color in their outlet.

Eyeliner test drive: Milani Liquif'eye

I am on a mission to find an eyeliner that lasts for a decent amount of time on my waterline. Of course, I'm not trying to be unreasonable with my expectations and don't think any will last all day long, but a more than one or two hours would be great. So, after the disappointment with the Buxom Insider eyeliner, I've decided to try a bunch and see how they do.

The first I'm trying is the Milani Liquif'eye metallic eye liner pencil in 01 Black.

Avon Ultra Color Rich lipstick

I picked up two of the Avon Ultra Color Rich lipsticks. They have SPF 15 and moisturizer in them, which is good because my lips get dry. I got Tangerine (left) and Nude Perfection (right).

The swirls in the lipstick are supposed to be the moisture ribbons in the lipstick. I don't know how well they provide moisture, though. They went on well, but not really any smoother than other ones that I have.

Books of January and February 2011

I read a lot of books (though it's not obvious by this skimpy list) but don't feel inspired to review all of them fully. So monthly or bi-monthly (depending on how much I read), I'll give mini reviews for all the books I read. Stars are based on a basic scale: 1: Hate it, 2: Didn't like it, 3: It was ok, 4: I liked it, 5: I loved it

Spying in High Heels by Gemma Halliday - It was a light mystery with romance and chick lit mixed in. Maddie Springer is a typical chick lit character- the frazzled blonde in love with shoes and fashion who finds herself often looking ridiculous in front of an attractive guy she may for may not like. But this is also a mystery so Maddie has to stumble her way through an amateur investigation. The story is not the most unique but I found it entertaining with a good number of funny moments. I figured out the who of the mystery half way through but thought the why was a little weak. Maddie also got a little annoying at times, but there were plenty of good smaller characters to help even it out. I'd recommend this book for anyone who likes funny, light mysteries- but I would not go in expecting this series to be just like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. I'm definitely going to read the rest. 4 out of 5 stars
